As soon as we were given approval to go ahead with the project, I spoke to our school maintenance man about painting a chalkboard paint feature wall so that students could draw directly on it. He was kind enough to offer his time and paint the wall. He had to give it a couple coats but it was finished in a couple days.
Then (silly me) due to my excitement and not reading the "wet paint" sign, I told the girls it was ready to be drawn on with liquid chalk. It didn't rub off!! We have to do another coat on the weekend. I'm lucky that he is patient enough to put up with this crazy mess of a teacher! We have decided to use dustless chalk in future.

OHS issues:
Painting was done in the mornings before school. When it was time for roll call, the paint fumes had pretty much aired out. If there were any students who were sensitive to the smell, they were able to sit in the entrance of the demountable for the duration of roll call. We had one of our sessions outside in the garden, which was was a nice change of environment.
