During the school holidays, Mr Ocampo and I spent a few days finishing up the painting in the classroom. We painted the front wall, the main door and the steel panels. The panels were the hardest to do, since they required a thick coating and most of the time the paint didn't stick. We worked out that we had to this slowly with a thick-coated brush.
We purchased our paints from Bunnings Warehouse, but a lot was also provided by our maintenance man who had some spare lying around. Thanks Vic! Here is a list of the paints we used:
- Purple steel panels: Poxy Enamel. "Cleopatra's Gown." These needed to be sandpapered down first before we could begin, so as to provide a smooth base for painting
- White front wall and checkered squares: Water- based paint. "White"
- Black door and checkered squares: Water-based paint. "Black"
- Chalkboard feature wall: Solvent Based. "Black Chalkboard Paint"
I've put together a short video that shows the transformations and us working in the holidays. Enjoy!
