On the 21st March, National Action against Bullying Day and Harmony Day, the SRC created an initiative to raise awareness about the impacts of cyber bullying on teenagers.

They presented a challenge whereby students must give up social media for their own choice of time. The maximum amount of time in which students can abstain from social media is 5 1/2 weeks, ending the challenge on the 29 April 3.15pm. In total we received 125 pledges from students committing to the challenge!

It is hoped that students participating in the challenge can use the time to reflect on the advantages and disadvantages of social media. Students have also been asked to collect donations from friends and family to support them during the challenge. The donations are to be forwarded to "Reach Out" by the Inspire Foundation, which is an organisation that provides support to victims of bullying and offers mental health services for the youth.

To keep up to date with the challenge, we have created a page on the SRC website. The direct link is http://www.mghssrc.com/#!social-media-challenge/c3sp

Good luck to all students! I have been Facebook clean for one whole week now... must...fight...urges.
